Gear rarity and orbs
Random options
Section titled “Random options”Equipment rolls its random options when it drops, so you can see exactly what you are getting before you pick it up, trade it or buy it.
The number of options is the item’s rarity tier:
| Tier | Options | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | 1 | Drops with a white pillar of light |
| Magic | 2 | |
| Rare | 3 | |
| Exalted | 4 | |
| Apex | 5 | The rarest. The 5th option can repeat one of the first four. |
Rarer drops are highlighted on the ground so you notice them.
The fourth option is the one to watch: it can roll a class skill bonus strong enough to change your whole build.
Orbs reshape an item’s options. Each one does one job.
| Orb | What it does |
|---|---|
| Chaos Orb | Rerolls all options. The tier stays the same. |
| Divine Orb | Rerolls the values only. The options stay. |
| Exalted Orb | Moves an item up one tier, up to Exalted. |
| Apex Exalted Orb | The only way to turn Exalted gear into Apex. |
| Annulment Orb | Removes an option. |
| Focus Orb | Details coming soon. |
| Transfer Orb | Moves options to another item. All or nothing: a 50/50 chance, with no partial result. |
| Corrupted Orb | A gamble. The item keeps its stats, has one or all stats pushed beyond their normal maximum, or is destroyed. |
Where orbs come from
Section titled “Where orbs come from”Each kind of content has its own orb specialty:
- Mystery Dungeon: crafting orbs.
- Mega Trials: precision orbs.
- Distortion Rifts: forbidden orbs, including the Transfer, Corrupted and Apex Exalted Orbs.
Corrupted gear
Section titled “Corrupted gear”Corrupted gear is always labeled, for example Corrupted Exalted Angra Manyu, so you know what you are looking at. When gear changes hands in a trade, both players see its tier and whether it is Corrupted.
